I have always had a love for fashion. Even as a young girl, I wanted to create a different style from everyone else. This led me to keep learning the craft of creating, designing and sewing.

My Experience

I have been working with Bride’s and their wedding parties for 38 years. My experience, at first, was in my local area which stretched 150 miles around central Iowa. With the advancement on the internet, it allowed me to work with Brides all over the world. I have met some amazing people and have many years’ experiences in how to fit the hardest body shape. Everyone needs their garments tailored to fit and I want to help you to understand the basics of tailoring a garment.

Sewing is a craft and the skills are learned best with practice.

I truly understand the struggles that many women have when shopping for a special event or just for their daily wardrobe. I have learned what the strains are for women and the best professional tailoring techniques for your garments. I want to help you move from ” I wish I could learn to sew” to, “I am willing to learn to sew”.

And that’s exactly what Beginner Basics is all about.

I want to help you get past the pains of not understanding what size to buy, how to read the size charts and make the purchase with confidence. Then, I want to help you make the minor adjustments to your garments. If you enjoy the process, I will be teaching intermediate and advanced classes.
